The Women Of Kazuri
Our Wish Beads are created by the women of the Kazuri Bead Factory just outside Nairobi Kenya. They hand-shape the clay and mix the glaze to produce the beautiful ocean blue bead - exclusive to the My World Wish Campaign.
Kazuri only hires women such as widows, single mothers, those handicapped, or otherwise disadvantaged. They pay three times the average wage in Kenya, provide health care, savings plans, daycare, and they are members of Fair Trade Act. The bottom line is, the more beads we sell, the more women they hire!
Each person working with us in Cambodia makes five times the average salary, we pay schooling fees for all their children, offer doctors visits, and allow them to work from home in order to keep their families together. Women of Cambodia
Through previous projects, we have met some amazing individuals in villages around the countryside of Kampong Speu.
We have created an education program for children in many of these villages, and now most of their mothers (and some fathers) are working for the World Wish Campaign.  |
